Introduction: Exploring SDSF
In this exercise, you will learn how to effectively navigate and manage job output using SDSF (System Display and Search Facility). SDSF is a powerful tool that allows you to interact with the Job Entry Subsystem (JES), monitor job status, and manage job output.
Study and understand SDSF Panels and interactions from below links:
Exercise
- Navigate to SDSF and View the Active Job List
- Access the SDSF Status panel.
- Identify and review the columns displayed, such as Job Name, Job ID, Status, Class, and Owner.
- Filter Jobs by Specific Criteria
- Filter the job list by job name, status, or another relevant criterion to narrow down the display. Find out what else we can filter.
- Sort the list of jobs by a selected column (e.g., Job Name or Job ID).
- Perform a search for specific keywords (e.g., "ERROR") within job logs or output to identify any potential issues.
- View Detailed Job Logs and System Messages
- View the logs for a selected job.
- Review system messages related to the job’s execution (e.g., JESMSGLG, JESYSMSG).
- Use line commands such as S to select a job for viewing, and D to delete job output.
- Displays your current session info.
- Displays the list of valid line commands for the current panel.
